Some of the things I have done the last 6 weeks in Haiti (but just some of them... by no means is this list exhaustive!)
- Eaten rice and beans every day for lunch
- Lived in a tent for 4 weeks
- Woken up to a glorious mountain view each morning
- Enjoyed 80+ degree days EVERY.SINGLE.DAY
- Seen amazing people demonstrating amazing faith
- Taken countless cold showers, some feeling refreshing... some feeling just plain cold
- Taken 0 hot showers :)
- Done 4 loads of laundry (hooray for Wadlene)
- Started working out with 4 amazing ladies on the roof to the utter amazement of the Haitians (yay Bodyrock.tv)
- Cooked 1000 hot dogs for a church luncheon
- Cooked dinner for 80-some people more times than I can count
- Taken 6 hours to go to the grocery store
- Watched Sitota bribe extra dessert out of the Hatian staff on multiple occasians
- Taken purple nail polish off a flat screen television
- Climbed a mountain
- Swam in the crystal blue Caribbean ocean (see above picture for exact location)
- Missed family and friends back home
- Made countless new friends
That's phenomenal! You guys are incredible.
ReplyDeleteShelli you forgot chasing after or looking for Sitota on many occasions :)
ReplyDeleteShelli, I am so impressed with your new skill set of cooking massive amounts of food. Maybe when you leave Haiti you could start a catering company?? Or you could work at Orkin?? I really can't imagine NO HOT showers, ever. Don't forget I want to produce your movie,"Aaron and Shelli's Big Haiti Adventure". Just let me know who you want to play you :). Take care, good to see you still have a sense of humor. That will serve you well the next few months. Love Patte :)
