Jewelry

Amy has started a really cool jewelry project with ladies in Chambrun. We have been using old cereal and spagetti boxes to make necklaces. So far The women who have been trained have made and sold over 100 necklaces! We just got a supply of new beads and supplies from our church Bible study group from Indiana (thanks guys!) so we are going to start making them with scrapbook paper as well as making earrings and bracelets. These are some bracelets I made as examples this week.

We are currently using the money earned to buy more supplies and getting ready to set up a tent so that we can train more women from the community to create jewelry. But if you are interested in donating supplies (glue, beads, spacers, stretchy thread, scrapbook paper, etc) we can find a way to get it all down here.

The women in the village helped to decide that 30 % of the funds will go to providing scholarships to sends kids on for further education. (We've already funded two scholarships) and 20% will go towards the new church building fund. The other 20% will go to the woman who created the jewelry and 30% will go towards supplies.

This is Wadlene and Mika, two of the ladies who make bracelets.
