Our Haiti House!

Our house in Haiti (nou kay) is being built as we speak. It is much larger than we originally thought (whew!) and will really be quite nice. We will have 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a family room area.

While the 600sq ft of space is a fifth the size of what we are used to, it is more than enough for us to live in. It is metal sheeting on the outside and 1-11 boards on the inside. And... wait for it.... air conditioned!!! Now, part of me is so excited to have such a comfortable place to call home, but part of me is really struggling with all the amenities we will have considering the millions still living in tents with no water, no air, no bathroom, no privacy, no room, etc. Still not sure how to reconcile that rub. The best I can figure is that this is a tension that we will need to manage all year long in varying respects.

We are working on the furnishings for the house. Since the earthquake, items are hard to come by and it was suggested we procure as much as possible here stateside to take down. Luckily there is a container being shipped out mid October we can place items on, as well as a Grace team going down in November that will take items for us! Amazing how things have just fallen into place! Sooooo that being said, if you or anyone you know have any of the following to get rid of or sell cheaply let us know!
