The sky is falling... the sky is falling....

Not really. At least not here anyway. The sky is beautiful here in fact.... bright blue and sunny during the day and crystal clear black with amazing stars at night. But that isn't why I wrote this post. No, I wanted to share our newest friends. Meet the 100 new chickens we got! Not only will we never have to buy eggs again, but we are going to have a little micro enterprise selling the eggs to the community. Cool huh!? The other day 100 chickens came "home" to their brand new chicken coop that was the work of several short term trip teams over this past month. On the short ride from the chicken farm to the campus... they laid 10 eggs! By the end of the first afternoon we had over 30 eggs. Soon we will be adding 200 more chickens to the coop. Needless to say, the kids are super excited!

  1. OH FUN! I am quite jealous of your new friends. I've been working on Grant to let us have just 3-4 little chickens of our own...maybe seeing the Elliotts with their hundreds of chickens will wear him down! :)

  3. Are you guys going to become urban farmers when you come back and set up your own chicken coop in the back yard?
