...I married the best man I have ever known!
Thirteen years of marriage... I can hardly believe so much time has passed since our wedding. I don't know why, but the older I get, the faster the years go by. Can anyone explain that?
Looking back, they have been 13 amazing years. I am sure there have been times or periods that haven't been as much fun as others, but when I look back over the past 13 years the overall feeling I have is a good one. Being in Haiti this year for our anniversary, we didn't plan to do anything special. We thought a nice chat over rice and beans would be our anniversary. Well, we were wrong! We walked into the dining hall under bubbles (blown by our very own Isabel) and were greeted by huge cheers. We were then escorted into dinner by our personal waiters... Chris and Nathan replete with bow ties, where we were seated at our own private table decked out with matching plates, silverware, tablecloth, and candles (not the norm around here).

We were served dinner, and ate by ourselves (no Sitota spilling things all over us, no being the last one to eat after getting all three kids situated). Randomly throughout dinner glasses clanked and kisses were exchanged and there was a great toast given by "best man" Jay.

After dinner we were served a homemade cookie decorated with "Aaron and Shelli 13" spelled out in M&M's (thanks to the baking prowess of Anna and Erica) and we were serenaded by the uber talented Campus Crusade trio.
We even got a gift from Jim and Cheryl Warner (our newest family members here on campus)... we love the new GAIN t-shirts!
It was such a fun and surprising night! A huge thanks to everyone for making us feel special for the evening. Surely a night we will never forget!
Sounds like a wonderful and memorable anniversary - congratulations!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I actually have a theory on the whole "the older I get, the faster the years go by" perception. :-) We compare every year to the years that have come before. When we're 9, our 10th year is being compared to the 9 that came before, but when we're 29, our 30th year is being compared to the 29 that came before, so we're perceiving it as a much smaller period of time.
That's just my theory, though...
Yeah, I'm a geek; what would you expect? ;-)
