Traveling Medical Clinic

This past week was a really fun one. There were 4 fabulous teams on campus, one of them being a team from our home church. The kids had a great time playing with their Uncle Jonathan and made MANY new friends on the Grace team.

Heading out in the tap-tap for a medical clinic
I got to go with them for three of the days to the nearby village of Troucaiema. We (NVM) rent a small piece of land in this village and have a tent set up that we use for travelling medical clinics. This community is also asking us to start a church in this tent (which we are working on).

Brooke, Joe, and I work in the pharmacy... no computers, nothing but drugs, sharpies, and zip-lock baggies
Most times I am unable to go with teams to these medical clinics because of home-school and my responsibilities on campus, but I was able to give the girls a week off school and pass off some other things so I could accompany the team. I had a great time this past week in the pharmacy with nurse Brooke and our rotating "technicians". None of our "technicians" had ever stepped foot in a pharmacy before, but after a quick orientation they all did amazing!

We saw roughly 170 people each day (and each person got multiple scripts). The doctors and nurses were great! The whole team was amazing and worked together to give the best possible care and dignity to all we saw. At the end of each day we would play with all the kids who had gathered (some had been around the whole day) to play or share bible stories.

One of the best surprises of the week was going to the beach on Thursday... thanks to our friends at Grace! We had a blast at what will be our last beach day here in Haiti. Thanks to all the members and supporters of the Grace Community Church team... we love you and will see you again in one month back in Indiana!
